Fair beats winter weather!

Hundreds of people braved the winter weather and flocked to Cressing Temple Barns on 21/22 November to show their support for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

Visitors experienced more than 80 stalls selling a cornucopia of food and gifts, and were also treated to performances from the Bocking Brass Band, The Shoesettes, Chelmsford Gospel Community Choir, Abigail’s Performing Arts, and the Maldon All Saints Handbell Ringers.

Mother and daughter Sarah and Hannah Stanford, visiting from Brentwood were highly impressed by the festive fun.

“It’s a really lovely event, we’ve bought lots of different original presents; well done to the organisers,” said Sarah.

Charity Fundraising Manager Kate Alden was delighted by the level of support shown towards the event.

“As we were getting ready for opening the event early on Saturday morning, the most awful winter weather set in,” said Kate.

“We were worried that months of hard work would be foiled by the elements. But the visitors flocked in and immersed themselves in the festive spirit.”

“I would like to thank everyone involved in making this event such a success especially the volunteers and performers who gave their time freely, staff, partners, supporters, stallholders and an immense thank you to the members of the public who turned out in the droves rather than staying at home in the warm and dry. Early indications show we have raised in excess of £10,000; this money will make a real difference to the lives of people living with cancer.”
