HRCC Cancer Support Group Exhibits Art at Dugdale Centre

A team of ladies who met at an Art Therapy Group at the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre in North Middlesex Hospital, Enfield, are exhibiting some of their creations at The Dugdale Centre this month. The sessions, which were founded by one of HRCC’s clients, Zohreh Moftizadeh, support those affected by cancer and run every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at the support centre.

As Jackie Jones, one of the members of the group explains: “We started our Art Therapy Group about three years ago under the instruction of Zohreh, an artist who had had cancer herself and painted through her journey. She had a dream to start an art group within the Helen Rollason Centre, which had helped her at this very difficult time.

“Zohreh wanted some poetry to express her artwork so she approached me to “say something about them”, so I helped her with that. We now have quite a few ladies in the group, we all do different types of art and have learnt a great deal from Zohreh. The group has really helped all of us, we are able to express ourselves and we can chat to each other in ways we are unable to with family and friends, whom we don’t want to worry. The art exhibition is a way to show how far we have all come and we would love people to come and share in our joy. The Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre has really helped to support us all and we would be lost without it.”

Our Cancer Journey is a FREE EXHIBITION and is being held from Tuesday 5 – Saturday 16 December at The Dugdale Centre, 39 London Road, Enfield EN2 6DS.

If you would like to attend the Art Therapy Group, you are more than welcome to drop in between 11am and 1pm on Thursdays, or for more information call our London Support Centre on 020 8887 2408.
