Thieves break in to Witham HRCC charity shop

Retail volunteers from the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity shop on Newland Street in Witham were shocked to discover that the premises had been broken in to during the night of Thursday 7 December. When opening the shop in the morning of Friday 8 December the volunteers noticed that the back door had been smashed and the safe ripped off the wall.

Alison Matthews, Head of Retail for HRCC, says: “We are all very upset that our retail shop in Witham has been broken into. The safe has been stolen, which contents included around £250 that the volunteers had saved together to pay for their Christmas meal, which is planned for next Tuesday. The income we make from our retail shops goes towards funding our Cancer Support Centres.”

The police have been informed about the incident and the shop is now open as usual.
