Vice patron Ellen MacArthur MBE, winner of the Helen Rollason award at the BBC Sports Personality of the year 2001: - "I have worked with young people affected by cancer - it has been humbling to say the least. They have been an inspiration to me when times are tough. These people don't choose to be ill, but still face life with more enthusiasm and courage than you would believe. Please support their energy."

Heroes for Helen is a challenge to raise £1,000 or more to help us continue to help others on their journey with cancer.

Anyone can take part in the challenge - whether you are eight or 80. You can get involved as a group or on an individual basis.

Each team (or individual) who completes the challenge is awarded an engraved glass paperweight, a Certificate of Achievement and their name recorded in a leather-bound Heroes for Helen record book.

You decide how moderate or vigorous your fundraising will be - anything from abseiling to coffee mornings or car-boot sales - just make sure you do something you enjoy.
