The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity

The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity was founded in 1999 – it is the legacy of Helen Rollason MBE, who died of cancer aged 43.

The charity funds three services:

Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centres
Helen’s vision to provide better emotional support for cancer patients has led to the foundation of two Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centres. In an environment of peace and tranquillity, complementary therapies, manual lymph drainage, counselling and support groups are available to people with cancer, their families, carers and friends. The centres are for patients with all types of cancer at all stages: whether newly diagnosed or longer term, throughout treatment and after treatment is completed.

Helen Rollason Clinical Drug Trials
The charity has enabled more than 800 cancer patients to participate in pioneering clinical drug trials in the last eight years. It is the largest Cancer Research Clinical Drug Trial Programme in the Essex Hospitals Network. A team of research nurses work together providing care for cancer patients at two centres: Broomfield Hospital in Essex and North Middlesex University Hospital in London.

Helen Rollason Research Laboratory
The charity funds scientific research at its laboratory in Chelmsford. The researchers work in close collaboration with fellow scientists nationally and internationally. The aim of the research is to gain a greater understanding of breast cancer, potentially resulting in better treatment options for patients, better prognosis and higher survival rates.

The charity does not receive any government money, relying solely on funding from the community.
