Vintage Fayre - June 26, 2010
Cressing Temple Barns, Witham Road, Near Braintree, Essex CM77 8PD

THOUSANDS of people flocked to Cressing Temple Barns, Witham Road, Cressing, Near Braintree, on Saturday to sample the delights of a vintage fayre staged by the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

2000 people attended the event which raised in the region of £12,000. The fayre boasted more than 100 vintage vehicles which were on display including Harley Davidson motorbikes and Morgan three wheelers.

Youngsters enjoyed donkey rides, a display by the Suffolk punch horses, meeting owls from the Harry Potter films and getting close up to baby animals. Live entertainment in the form of jive dancing from A2 Jive, singing by Colne Harmony and the sounds of Chelmsford Silver Band created a fun atmosphere throughout the day.

Community fundraiser Anne Brown said:“Our vintage fayre was a huge success and we are extremely happy with how the event drew in the crowds. It was fantastic to see everyone enjoying themselves.

“Not only did the vintage cars look amazing, people who dressed up vintage style on the day really got into the spirit of things. It was a wonderful event with great community support".

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes for helping to make this vintage fayre possible.”

People brought along their treasures to be valued by Reeman Dansie, who have previously appeared on BBC’s Flog It, while others sampled ‘a most curious party’ staged by Rebecca Hoh-Hale (pictured) with vintage tea ware and homemade cakes.

Community relations manager Angela Lodge added: “The vintage fayre was an amazing day with the sun shining throughout. We were delighted to see so many people there and we are now looking into the possibilities of making this an annual event so watch this space.”
