Vintage fun for all the family

More than two thousand people took advantage of the late summer sunshine and flocked to Cressing Temple Barns for the annual Vintage Fayre organised by Helen Rollason Cancer Charity on Sunday 6 September.

People of all ages stepped back in time to enjoy a taste of yesteryear. Stalls selling a variety of items from decades gone by – including clothes, homeware and jewellery – attracted a steady stream of visitors looking for a vintage bargain.

Music and dancing was provided by A2 Jive, DJ Rockabilly, the Jeff Short Swing Band and The Kingsmen. The event boasted a classic car display, pop up Vintage teashop, donkey rides, swing boats and Punch and Judy shows throughout the day.

Morris dancing displays from Chelmsford Morris were also a big hit with young and old alike, who also had the chance to have vintage hair make-overs.

One visitor said: “This was a perfect day and an opportunity to remember yesterday and memories of the way we once were.” Another commented: “The best £5 I have spent in a long time.”

Kate Alden, Fundraising Manager, said the event had been a great success, raising thousands of pounds to support people living with cancer.

“It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and we would like to thank them – and everyone associated with the event – for making it such a success. The money raised will make a difference to the lives of people living with cancer.”
