Support Groups

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. As well as providing holistic therapies, we also have a number of Support Groups where you can meet and talk to others who understand what you are going through.

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is working with some fantastic organisations to ensure that those touched by cancer are able to access emotional support through a variety of groups, workshops and courses.

Look Good Feel Better

Look Good Feel Better workshopLook Good Feel Better offer a free monthly skincare and make-up workshop to help improve the self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing of those undergoing treatment for any sort of cancer.

Held at GenesisCare adjacent to Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford, the sessions are led by trained beauty volunteers who share tips and techniques to help with eyebrow and eyelash loss and changes to the skin. Look Good Feel Better are now also offering ‘Skin Fitness’ sessions for men giving advice on skincare, shaving and grooming.

Art Therapy Group – North Middlesex Hospital

ARTFounded by one of our clients, artist Zohreh Moftizadeh, the Art Therapy Group runs at our London Support Centre in North Middlesex University Hospital.

The support group is open to anyone who would like to come along and make friends while having a go at creating some lovely artwork – no previous artistic skills needed!

Art & Craft Group – Hatfield Peverel Fundraising Office

ArtsandCraftsThis group meets every Friday morning from 10.00am to 12.00pm at our Hatfield Peverel base. You don’t have to be good at art or crafts just turn up and enjoy a friendly chat over coffee and amaze yourself at what you have created while chatting.

This group is run by Maia, who will guide you through the wonderful world of craft making. The group runs most weeks but please give us a call if you are thinking of coming along – we would love to welcome you!

Breast Cancer Support Group

The Essex Breast Cancer Support Group offers a relaxed and informal session for anyone that has been affected, either currently or in the past, by breast cancer in any way. The group meets once a month (usually on the third Wednesday of each month) at our Rochelle House Support Centre in Chelmsford.

Yoga Sessions

YogaFortnightly Yoga sessions are available to aid the recovery of the body and mind post treatment. These take place every other Tuesday from 10.30am – 11.30am at The Wellness Barn, Margaretting.

Mindfulness Sessions

MindfulnessFortnightly mindfulness sessions are available to aid the recovery of the body and mind post treatment. Our new sessions are run by Jodie Marrable and offer one to one appointments or group sessions.

These take place every other Monday at the GenesisCare Centre and Springfield Hospital.

Pilates Sessions

PilatesNew to our West Essex area, held weekly in Roydon on Wednesday mornings. Forty-five minute sessions of gentle exercise to support re-building and retaining strength post treatment.

The sessions are run by Heather, who is an experienced Pilates tutor and has undertaken additional specialist training to work with those with a cancer diagnosis.

Essex Melanoma Support Group

This friendly group gets people together in a welcoming environment with the opportunity to share experiences. There is also a program of professional speakers who kindly give up their time to talk to the group. They also welcome carers, family and friends of anyone who has been affected. The group meet on the last Thursday of each month at the Helen Rollason Research and Development Centre, at the rear of Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
