Supporters Stride for Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.

A crisp blue sky and sunshine welcomed guests to the very first Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Tower Trail at Layer Marney Tower near Colchester on Saturday 17th November.

Hot drinks were served to families with young children, hikers and dog walkers who were ready to set off for the 5 mile walk, starting and finishing at England’s tallest Tudor Gatehouse, and over fields and farmland in the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Trees painted in bright reds, oranges and yellows, and ground carpeted in crunchy leaves greeted the walkers, who trekked through tranquil woods and fields all in aid of the Charity. Upon their return, cakes provided by The Perfect Pudding Company were waiting for all guests to enjoy with a hot cup of tea or coffee, before the climb up Layer Marney Tower to take in the spectacular views.

Suzanne Watson, Fundraising Coordinator said: “What a fantastic day! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our inaugural Tower Trail and of course all our fantastic Volunteers who made the day so successful.

The sun shone throughout; how lucky we were! Also special thanks to The Perfect Pudding Company for providing the cakes free of charge. All money raised will help us to provide quality of life while living with cancer.”

The Charities next walking event is Rural Ramble taking place on Saturday 13th April at The Forgotten Gardens of Easton Lodge near Dunmow; registration will be opening soon and more details can be found here.
