A Vintage Day Out returns to Cressing Temple Barns!

Against all the odds, A Vintage Day Out took place at Cressing Temple Barns in aid of Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, raising over £14,000 with money still coming in!

Nostalgia-seeking families and friends returned to Cressing Temple Barns on Sunday 27th June 2021. The event is one of the charity’s flagship fundraisers and attracts visitors from across the region looking to enjoy a day of live entertainment, classic vehicles, food, music, dancing, shopping and much more!

There was something for all the family; the petrol heads enjoyed over 300 vintage cars, motorbikes, bicycle, tractors and stationary engines, the kids were thoroughly entertained with arts and crafts, face painting, flea circus, storytelling and vintage games including hook the duck, higher or lower and splat the rat!

Guests danced the day away with the sounds of the Kingsmen who played their 50’s instruments, dancing from LJ’s Jive School and singing from the Harmonettes and Miss Franny De Light, while Chelmer Radio broadcasted live from the event.

It was smiles all round as crowds enjoyed the gastronomic treats from various food caterers and prosecco, ice creams and afternoon tea from Tipsy Grey, Lavender Blu and Molly Moos.

There was plenty of opportunity for shopping with over 100 independent traders selling a selection of vintage clothing, crafts, jewellery, collectables, upcycled items, accessories and antiques.

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Community Fundraiser Karen Mitchell said; We had been closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation as the safety and wellbeing of our guests, sellers, entertainers, volunteers and staff is always our primary concern, combined with the effect to the local area. We ensured everyone attending could enjoy our event safely by putting in place extensive safety measures to look after all involved.

After last year’s event was sadly cancelled due to Government restrictions, it was wonderful to be back at Cressing Temple Barns to host our 11th Vintage Day Out. The event has been a great success and looks set to have raised over £14,000 which will go towards supporting those living with cancer.

We would like to thank all of our guests, stall holders, classic vehicle owners, entertainers but above all our team of dedicated Volunteers who made the day possible; Chelmsford Round Table, Essex Shed Network, The Cressing Shed project, the car park marshals, the ticket desk teams, the raffle ticket sellers, the people running the vintage games, tombolas and stalls, our volunteer photographers, the classic car and barn stewards and organiser Vicki Butcher for all the pre-event planning and organisation.

We’re a local charity serving our local community, and every penny raised at this event will go towards ensuring we continue to provide the best possible cancer care now and in the future. Thank you to everyone involved in A Vintage Day Out and we look forward to welcoming you back next year!”
