What a scorcher! Celebrating the 12th anniversary of A Vintage Day Out at Cressing Temple Barns!

Nostalgia-seeking families and friends returned to Cressing Temple Barns on Sunday 10th July for a scorcher of a day for our annual Vintage Day Out, raising over £18,000 for the Charity!

The event is one of our flagship fundraisers and attracts visitors from across the region looking to enjoy a day of live entertainment, classic vehicles, food, music, dancing, shopping and more.

There was something for all the family; the petrol heads enjoyed over 250 vintage vehicles, the kids were thoroughly entertained with Punch and Judy, storytelling and vintage games, and guests danced the day away with the sounds of The Kingsmen who played their 50’s hits, dancing from LJ’s Jive School and singing from the fabulous Harmonettes.

It was smiles all round as crowds enjoyed the gastronomic treats from various food caterers including hog roast, cocktails and prosecco from The Tipsy Grey Ltd and ice creams to cool down guests from Molly Moos Ices, among others.
There was plenty of opportunity for shopping with over 100 independent traders selling a selection of vintage clothing, crafts, jewellery, upcycled items, accessories, fashion, retro second-hand items, kitchenalia, antiques, collectables and much more!

Sterling Insurance of Bishop’s Stortford kindly sponsored the event; Andy Morton, General Manager at Sterling explains; “Helen Rollason has a history of providing invaluable support for people in our region living with cancer. The work they provide in communities is inspiring and the decision to join forces with Helen Rollason at their ‘A Vintage Day Out’ event was an easy one for us to make. I am delighted that the event was such a success.”

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Head of Marketing and Fundraising Zoe Jay said; “We were delighted to welcome thousands of guests to the beautiful grounds of Cressing Temple Barns on Sunday 10th July for our vintage extravaganza! Despite the heat, the event has been a great success and looks set to have raised over £18,000 which will go towards supporting those living with cancer. This event alone will fund 360 counselling appointments or 360 reflexology sessions for our clients.

We would like to thank all of our guests, stall holders, classic vehicle owners, entertainers but above all our team of dedicated Volunteers who made the day possible; the car park marshals, the ticket desk teams, the raffle ticket sellers, the people running the vintage games, tombolas and stalls, our volunteer photographers, the classic car and barn stewards and all of our volunteer event organisers for all the pre-event planning. We couldn’t do it without you!

It costs around £850,000 annually to keep our Charity operational. Therefore, we really needed to make this event a success and raise as much money as possible to keep supporting men and women living with cancer…

“The counsellor has given me back my joy for life. I have hope again and even look forward to the future with plans that I had long shelved.” – client quote.

We’re a local charity serving our local community, and every penny raised at this event will go towards ensuring we continue to provide the best possible cancer care now and in the future.

We will see you next year Vintage fans!”
