In August, the fundraising team had the pleasure of meeting up with two of the three organisers of Bundle O’ Dubz, Kieron Davey and Dave Boreham, at the Wheatsheaf in Hatfield Peverel. The pair presented us with a cheque worth £2,000 from their Bundle O’ Dubz car show in July. This is the fourth year that the guys have hosted the event and have so far raised a grand total £5,440 for HRCC.
The concept of Bundle O’ Dubz initially came about after Kieron and Dave, along with third Dubber Neil Hawes, decided to put on a barbeque and get-together for fellow VW enthusiasts in the local area. For the first two years, the event was held at Blake End Craft Centre in Rayne, but due to its growing popularity the guys decided to ‘go big or go home’ and move the event to a larger site at Marsh Farm in South Woodham Ferrers. The new venue has been a roaring success and since relocating, Bundle O’ Dubz has continued to go from strength to strength. This year attracted over 500 visitors, who enjoyed a weekend full of activities including an 80’s disco with DJ Steve Hall, live music from bands Ghosts of Men and Manhattan, as well as a performance from Voice Kids finalist Erin LeCount. Around 30 traders exhibited a variety of goods such as VW memorabilia, vintage clothing and Auto Jumble, while foodies were kept happy with burgers, curries and a beer tent.
Kieron explains why the group have chosen to donate their profits to HRCC every year: “All of the Bundle O’Dubz team have been touched by cancer in some way, so we decided to fundraise for HRCC as it is a fantastic charity that supports local people. It’s great to be able to help a smaller organisation that doesn’t have the profile of some of the larger charities out there.”
Neil has even allowed his VW to be used for a special calendar, which is being sold to raise money for HRCC and Breast Cancer Care. Neil’s wife Simone, has been using our services and is one of the brave ladies that modelled for the calendar.
From everyone at HRCC, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Neil, Kieron, Dave and the rest of the Bundle O’ Dubz team for supporting HRCC. Great work!
